The Swiss private sector is committed to Ukraine
Since the start of Russia’s war of aggression, Switzerland has been supporting Ukraine with humanitarian aid. However, it is also helping to rebuild destroyed infrastructure and strengthen the economy. In doing so, Switzerland is also drawing on the innovative strength of the private sector: Swiss companies can make an important contribution to the reconstruction process through their expertise and innovative, high-quality products.
Reconstruction cannot be achieved through traditional instruments of international cooperation alone. The Swiss private sector should therefore be more closely involved. Among other initiatives, SECO and Ukraine jointly selected twelve reconstruction projects by Swiss companies in autumn 2025, which are being co-financed by Switzerland.
Two examples:
A Swiss company is supplying the Ukrainian railways with fastening clips for the rail network. This will also facilitate its integration into the European system. In addition, the company is refurbishing a disused factory in Kremenchuk in eastern Ukraine so that the country can manufacture such clips itself. This boosts local value creation, creates new jobs and provides further training for skilled workers.

A Swiss glass manufacturer is replacing over 32,000 windows in public buildings in Kharkiv – such as halls of residence, schools and communal kitchens – that were destroyed by the war. The new windows provide better insulation, thereby increasing the buildings’ energy efficiency. At the same time, the project secures jobs and trains Ukrainian skilled workers in glass processing and window fitting.
Cooperation with the Swiss private sector strengthens local economic resilience, creates jobs, promotes sustainable solutions and contributes to Ukraine’s integration into Europe. At the same time, it creates opportunities for Swiss companies to contribute their expertise, tap into new markets and build long-term partnerships.
